Our aim is to increase the participation rate in school sports for boys and girls across the academy to help improve our children’s health and fitness, their understanding of sport, team work, and citizenship. We are creating a learning environment within P.E and sports at Heathfield where children can confidently express themselves in a constructive and positive way to become the best performers that they can be.
Collectively our P.E teaching team deliver P.E lessons to children and all lessons are challenging and inclusive covering a range of sports and technical skills across the academic year. As part of our P.E provision we provide targeted support to our children by working with them closely in small groups allowing them to access new skills and strengths through our occupational therapy programme.
We offer a wide range of sporting clubs which take place throughout the school day including breakfast, lunch and after school. Our breakfast clubs are designed to encourage children to come to school early in preparation for the day ahead. Providing a good start to the day with healthy food choices and morning sports and games. After school clubs are an opportunity for children to engage further in extracurricular activities and improve physical development and team skills.
